VOLLEYBALL

This year Volleyball Southland have opened the Year 7&8 grade to Year 5&6 to play in the Social Soft Volleyball league.
Commences:        Wednesday 10^th September – Wednesday 5^th November 2014 (6 games)
Venue:                   ILT Stadium Southland
Fees:                      $30 per player

Coaches are required so that we can enter teams.  Please indicate if you, a family member, or a friend are able to coach a team.  This would be greatly appreciated as we will not enter teams without coaches.  Coaching often involves a lunch time/after school practice and attendance at all games.

All teams that were entered in Term 1 will carry over to Terms 3 & 4. If you wish to withdraw from the team then please notify me by Friday 15^th August. The points earned in Term 1 will carry over.

Format:                  7 weeks of competition plus a catch up day if required.
Fees:                      $18 per player        

Cancellations are posted on the www.touchsouthland.co.nz website by 2pm.

Games are played at Turnbull Thomson Park between 4pm and 5pm. Times may change subject to team entries.

Junior Netball De-brief
As Junior Netball is close to finishing, Invercargill Netball Centre are holding a de-brief that will be covering Yr1-3 and Yr4-6 Junior Netball. This will be held at Stadium Southland on Tuesday 12^th August at 4.00pm. Everyone welcome.

Basketball Referee Training

Southland Basketball Association is offering a training course for people who would like to become basketball referees. This course is aimed at beginner referees who do not necessarily have to have any basketball experience but some knowledge of the game is of course helpful.

MiniBall Shooters’ Club

This club is a new Southland Basketball Association (SBA) initiative to help miniball players develop with extended coaching over a two month period from SBA Development Officer Kevin Braswell and other SBA coaches.
This training is split into two age groups;   Year 3&4 – 9.00am – 10.15am
                                                                            Year 5&6 – 10.30am – 12.00pm
Dates:   Sunday 31 August, Sunday 7 September, Saturday 13 September, Saturday 20 September,   Saturday 18 October, Saturday 25 October, Saturday 8 November, Saturday 15 November
Cost:      $100 per child – club T-shirt provided, also club members will be entitled to half price      SHARKS tickets in 2015.
Prior registrations must be made through the SBA office at Stadium Southland by Monday 18^th August – jill@basketballsouthland.co.nz or 2112254. Registration forms also available at the school office.
